WorldRemit is an online service that allows customer to send money abroad from a smartphone, tablet or computer. Money can be sent to bank accounts, for cash pickup, to a Mobile Money service (sometimes called mobile wallets) and as a mobile airtime top-up. WorldRemit offers greater convenience than traditional money transfer services that often require their customers to travel to a high-street agent.
This partnership allows customers of NBK to send money from the diaspora for cash pick up or to bank accounts in Kenya, both in NBK and in other Kenyan banks. Cash pick up is done at all our branch locations in KES only and bank deposits are processed centrally at NBK operations division in KES & USD.
WR is an online service that is simple to use, low cost, fast and secure. A customer can send money from a smartphone, tablet or computer anytime, day or night. Money can be sent to bank accounts or for cash pickup.
Kenyans in the diaspora residing in WR send countries (This is available on www.worldremit.com under the section ‘send from’) who are intending to send money to persons residing in Kenya for cash pick up or directly to their accounts in Kenyan banks.
WorldRemit does not accept cash as a means of paying for money transfer. Transactions are processed directly from the sender’s bank account via either debit card or credit card.
Kenya is a receive only country for World Remit. This means that NBK will only process receive transactions both for cash pick up and bank deposit.
WR has ensured that the website and Apps are secure using certified technology from Norton that ensures a client’s computer or smartphone will only communicate with WorldRemit once the connection to their system has been authenticated.
It’s so much simpler and more convenient to send money online, than having to visit an agent or a bank. The customer will just follow these steps:
Before system integration, funds sent to accounts before 3PM Kenyan time will be applied same day. All funds received after 3pm will be applied the following day. After integration, funds to NBK will be applied round the clock, but funds to other banks will be subjected to RTGS cut off.
The customer will walk in to the branch and be served by the MTS teller, they will provide the teller with a transaction ID, and the teller will pay per the laid down process. Funds once paid by the seller are immediately available for pick up at our branch location (during operation hours).
