Ms. Barungi is an Economist with about thirty (30) years’ experience as an academic, development policy practitioner and international civil servant. She is currently the Managing Partner and Founder of Imara Africa Consulting. Prior to this, she was the Lead Economist African Development Bank (AfDB) in the Nigeria Country Office; Research Department Tunisia and Fragile States Department Tunisia.
She occupied roles such as Strategic and Regional Programme Adviser Bureau for Africa United Nations Development Programme (‘UNDP’) New York; UNDP Regional Service Centre South Africa; Social Sector Advisor to the Minister of Finance, Rwanda, Development Economics Lecturer at Witwatersrand University South Africa; and Monetary Economics Lecturer at Makerere University, Uganda.
Ms. Barungi has a Master of Philosophy in International Finance from Glasgow University, Scotland, U.K; a Post Graduate Diploma in Development Policy; and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Sociology from Makerere University Uganda.
She is currently the First Female Chairperson of the Board at Access Bank (Kenya) PLC. Ms. Barabara was appointed to the board of National Bank of Kenya as a Non- Executive Director on 30th May 2025.
Mr. Kumapayi is a highly accomplished and result-driven professional with over 20 years of progressive banking experience spanning across Finance, Strategy, Risk Management, and Treasury. He joined Access Bank in 2002 as the Head of Financial Control and Credit Risk Management. He is currently the Executive Director, African Subsidiaries at Access Bank Plc. Prior to that he was the Group Chief Financial Officer, a position he held for 12 years. Prior to joining Access Bank, he held controller and analyst positions with First City Monument Bank Limited and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc respectively.
Mr. Kumapayi is an alumnus of Harvard Business School. He holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos, and a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He has also attended several Executive Management Development programme in leading institutions including INSEAD, IMD and London Business School.He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), and a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) and the Chartered Institution of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
Mr. Kumapayi sits on the Board of Access Bank Kenya PLC as a Non- Executive Director and was appointed to the board of National Bank of Kenya as a Non- Executive Director on 30th May 2025.
Mr. Ogundimu (64 years) is a seasoned banker with over three decades of high-level professional banking experience in the sub-region. He has been recognized as a change manager and contributor to the development of the financial services industry in several countries on the African continent.
Mr. Ogundimu was until recently, the Regional Managing Director, African Subsidiaries, Access Bank Plc., Nigeria and serves on several boards of the Bank across the continent. Prior to his appointment as a Non-Executive Director, he was the Managing Director of Access Bank (Ghana) Plc from 2012 to 2018, growing its franchise to become one of the leading banks in the country.
Mr. Ogundimu is an alumnus of the Kellogg School of Management, Columbia Business School (USA), International Institute for Management Development (IMD) Switzerland and the Lagos Business School. He holds a BSc and an MBA from the Ogun State University in Nigeria.
He resides in Ghana and was appointed to the Board of Access Bank (Kenya) Plc in July 2020.
Mr. Ongundimu was appointed to the board of National Bank of Kenya as a Non- Executive Director on 30th May 2025
Mr. Kemei holds an MBA from Maastricht University (2006), B. COM Hons from University of Nairobi (1985), CPA (K) 1987 and CPS (K) and a registered member of Institute of Certified Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He has over thirty years post qualification experience having started as an auditor in 1985 with Coopers & Lybrand (now PWC) to 1991. In 1992 he joined Sian group of companies as a Finance Director, which is leading floriculture in Kenya and Netherlands which has a combined turnover of over thirty million euros. He has been a financial management consultant and director in several private companies; Transnational Bank Plc (now Access Bank Kenya Plc from 1995), Image Registrars and Mzurrie group of Flowers (from 2009). Flora Ola Limited and Hashi Petroleum Energy (covering Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia. DRC and South Sudan) which has parent company in Mauritius.
Mr. Kemei sits on the Board of Access Bank Kenya PLC as a Non- Executive Director and was appointed to the board of National Bank of Kenya as a Non- Executive Director on 30th May 2025.
Mr. Langat has Thirty-Two (32) years’ experience as a Banker. Having worked in the corporate banking sector at KCB and African Banking, CEO and MD Transnational Bank Ltd. He is currently Advisor for agri-businesses through digital platforms for specific Agri-Value Chains.
He has served as Chief Executive Officer, Transnational Bank (Now Access Bank Kenya Ltd). Joined the bank at the time the bank was struggling with Governance issues and managed to clean it up, fit for strategic sale. He has also served as a General Manager and Head of Corporate Banking Reporting to Group CEO, African Banking Corporation.
He holds a Degree in Economics from University of Nairobi, BA(Economics).
Mr. Langat sits on the Board of Access Bank (Kenya) PLC as a Non- Executive Director and was appointed to the board of National Bank of Kenya as a Non- Executive Director on 30th May 2025.
Laban joined the board of National Bank of Kenya Ltd as a non-executive director in July 2022 after his recent retirement from ABSA as the Director Compliance, Legal and Board Affairs in November 2021. Laban holds a Masters in Business Administration in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi.
Laban is a seasoned banker with deep experience for over 33 years in banking operations as well as leading risk and compliance for Barclays embedding both international as well as local risk and compliance standards. Laban provides good insights into operational risk standards and has established good networks with the regulator as well as within the banking industry.
Ms. Githuka has a wealth of experience, spanning over 25 years in various commercial roles, covering portfolio management, strategy development, business development and trade marketing. Her experience has been gained regionally and internationally, within the FMCG sector, having previously worked at British American Tobacco and Unilever Kenya Limited. She currently serves as the Managing Director of Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL).
Ms. Githuka was identified as one of the 25 most powerful women in C-Suite impacting business by Business Monthly (East Africa) in 2021 & in 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nairobi. She has also undertaken multiple functional and leadership development programmes from across the world.
Lina also serves as an independent Board Director on the Population Services of Kenya (PSK) and National Bank of Kenya.
George Odhiambo was appointed as the National Bank Managing Director in January 2023.
Mr Odhiambo, a seasoned banker, was previously the MD BPR Bank Rwanda Plc since its inception following the merger between KCB Bank Rwanda and Banque Populaire du Rwanda. He was the immediate former Managing Director, KCB Bank Rwanda Limited. He joined KCB in 2009 as Head, Business Analytics, KCB Bank Kenya.
He holds an MSc in Pure Mathematics and BSc in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Nairobi. He has also acquired several leadership certifications such as Practitioner Diploma in Executive Coaching and Postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Governance from the Academy of Executive Coaching, UK and the Centre for Corporate Governance & KCA University respectively.
Mr. Odhiambo is a member of the COMESA Business Council, Advisory Board and Chairs the Banking sub-Sector Committee and Patron African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) Teachers Training Program Scholarship Fund - Rwanda.
Samuel has over 20 years legal and corporate governance experience in the banking industry having previously worked at Southern Credit Banking Corporation in Kenya. He has a wealth of experience in Management, Commercial, Legal and Governance and has gained extensive knowledge and experience in leading teams. Samuel holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from the University of Nairobi, a Diploma in law from the Kenya School of Law and is currently completing a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in International Financial Law from Strathmore University, Nairobi.
He also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB. Hons.) and a Higher Diploma from the Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS) through Strathmore University. He has attended various professional management and corporate governance capacity building courses. He is an active member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) and the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). He currently serves as the company secretary for the 2 subsidiaries of the Bank.
